YOU ARE A COLLEGE STUDENT NOW!

Dual Credit students are required to follow all SWTX policies and procedures with regard to conduct and academic standards.  Some policies and procedures that may affect you are:

Required student I.D.

All students are required to carry their student I.D. at all times.  I.D.s can be made at all SWTX libraries. Your first I.D. card is free.  Replacements are $25.

Access

Students, staff, and faculty can gain electronic access by logging in with your SWTX username and password.  The username is the first part of your email address: astudent1234@swtjc.edu

For library information, the username is your I.D. number and the password is the last 4-digits of your I.D. number.

Dropping a Class

You may withdraw from a class after the semester has started; you must do so in person with your High School Counselor before the deadline listed on the SWTX academic calendar.  SWTX does not automatically withdraw students who choose to stop attending class.  Students who fail to officially withdraw will receive a failing or incomplete grade in the course.

Information Disclosure

You are covered under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), which prohibits SWTX from disclosing information to anyone, including parents, without your written consent.

Required Attendance

You are required to abide by the college’s academic calendar, which may vary from your high school.  SWTX does not differentiate between Dual Credit students and their college peers: all students should make the necessary schedule commitment required of their class.

Missing Dual Credit classes to attend high school related events such as pep-rallies and field trips are not considered excused absences.  If you anticipate an absence, please consult with your SWTX professor for appropriate arrangements.

Scholastic Probation

Scholastic Probation is an emphatic warning that the quality of the student’s work has not met the minimum scholastic standards, and that the quality must improve during the probationary semester in order for the student to continue at SWTX. A student will be placed on scholastic probation at the end of any semester if the cumulative overall GPA is less than 2.00. When the student’s cumulative overall GPA is 2.00 or higher, that student will be removed from scholastic probation. A student on scholastic probation may register as long as they achieve a 2.00 each semester.  This will be based on the overall GPA.  Students on Probation will be limited to enrolling in no more than 12 sch during a regular term and 6 sch during the summer term.

Scholastic Suspension

Students who fail to achieve a GPA of at least 2.00 during any term while on scholastic probation will be placed on scholastic suspension.  These students will not be permitted to re-enroll until one fall or spring semester has elapsed, however, they may attend summer school.  Students may then return and continue their studies.  Students re-enrolling after a lapse due to scholastic suspension will automatically be placed on scholastic probation.  This will be based on the SWTX GPA.

Students on suspension will be limited to enrolling in no more than 6 sch during a regular or summer term.

Statement on Scholastic Dishonesty

Acts prohibited by the college for which discipline may be administered include scholastic dishonesty, including but not limited to, cheating on an exam or quiz, plagiarizing, and unauthorized collaboration with another in preparing outside work.  Academic work submitted by students shall be the result of their thought, work, and research or self- expression.  Academic work I defined as, but not limited to, tests, quizzes, whether taken electronically or on paper; projects, either individual or group; classroom presentations; and homework.
